| NEHRA's Guiding Principles |
All members share the common bond of having an interest in Human Resources. Each member has much experience and expertise to share with others. As with any group, a foundation of mutual respect must exist before a true exchange of ideas can occur. Regardless of length of service, area of expertise or whether one is a service provider or practitioner, NEHRA members will all be treated with the same level of courtesy and regard. Programs are developed and offered first and foremost as learning opportunities. During programs, it is essential that exchanges among members correlate to the program content and related ideas. Selling services is not appropriate during program delivery. NEHRA e-mails, member forums and bulletin boards are intended as an opportunity to create peer learning opportunities, exchange ideas, and best-practices among colleagues. Unless someone specifically asks to be contacted by providers, this is not an appropriate venue for solicitation. Participation should be in the spirit of information sharing, not business development. Both service providers and practitioners are responsible for communicating appropriately and graciously with one another. Courteous, civil and respectful behavior is an expectation. The goal of each member should be to develop mutually beneficial professional relationships, central to NEHRA's mission: to lead, advance and influence the management of human resources and its impact on organizational success.
NOTE: These guiding principles were developed by a NEHRA Project Team led by Gretchen Neels and Linda Metzger, along with team members Doug Cohen, Patricia Dahill, Kellie O'Shea, Amy Provost, Chuck Mollor and Rick Winter. The group brought together providers and practitioners to discuss how we can ensure that NEHRA is a place where the differences between the perspectives of our various work responsibilities do not obscure the great thing that we all have in common - Human Resources. The project team focused on ways to be sure that every NEHRA member feels welcome and can get the value they need in the vital community of ideas and talent that is NEHRA. We thank them for their thoughtful participation! |
